“Our plans will breathe new life into Seaburn, creating a 21st century seaside resort where people choose to live, work and visit."

Seaburn

Sunderland is a city by the sea, and the Seaburn area has a fantastic heritage as a seaside resort, with a superb stretch of sand leading along to Roker.

A regeneration scheme is now underway to create a resort fit for the 21st century, with a new boulevard and promenade providing year-round facilities to attract visitors. As well as creating jobs, the project will provide attractive housing suitable for everyone from families to young couples and the retired.

Opportunities for retail, leisure and residential development include new cafes, restaurants, shops, a hotel and indoor and outdoor leisure areas, as well as space for events such as food and street markets, arts and craft fairs.

The place-making masterplan for Seaburn incorporates a new 20 metre wide central boulevard at right angles to the seafront, with a pedestrianised area and a large two-storey leisure facility.

Seaburn is a fantastic location, with huge potential to attract people from across Sunderland, the North East and nationally.

Seaburn is being developed by Siglion, a joint venture company between Sunderland City Council, Carillion and Igloo Regeneration.
