Based on the concept conceived by Professor Neil Gershenfeld at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and part of the FabLab community worldwide, Sunderland’s FabLab is accessible to everyone.
Part of the university and based in the city centre, FabLab Sunderland provides 3D printers, laser cutters, vinyl cutters and even a CNC machine, backed up by support, enthusiasm and expertise.
For anyone who’s just had a light bulb moment, or a concept that needs working up into a prototype, FabLab provides access to the best contemporary technologies, the resources of the worldwide FabLab network, as well as the University of Sunderland’s own design and manufacturing experts.
Everyone’s welcome, whether an innovator or thinker, a student, a retiree, in a full-time job or a weekend warrior. There are also plenty of opportunities to get involved for businesses, schools and community groups.
In Sunderland’s FabLab everyone has the power to turn their ideas and concepts into a reality.
