A well-known landmark at the coast, located on the upper promenade at Roker, approx. 2 miles from the city centre, the Bungalow Café is a great place to visit if you are feeling a bit peckish from all the fresh sea air.

Cole Kitchen serve delicious deli sandwiches and fantastic home baked cakes from their enviable location overlooking the Roker sea front.

Divan Khanah, Washington

Located on Elswick Road in Washington, approx. 8 miles from the city centre, it is popular with the locals and visitors. This well established Indian restaurant is known for its good value prices and large portions. A takeaway service is also available.

Esquires Coffee Shop

A speciality coffee house and café, selling Fairtrade beverages and gourmet snacks in a relaxed environment. A great place to watch all the shoppers go by in The Bridges, in the city centre.

Fitzgeralds

This long established real ale pub in the heart of the city centre, offers a range of traditional pub food and sandwiches, as well as a tasty roast lunch on Sundays.

Gabriele's

Gabriele's has been a staple food and drink venue on the coast at Seaburn for many years. Approx. 3 miles from the city centre, it is renowned for its large portions and friendly atmosphere. The restaurant welcomes walk-ins, but it is very popular and booking in advance is advised.

Garden Place Bistro

Offering pre-theatre dining on performance nights from 5.30pm and on matinee days from 12.30pm, early arrival is recommended to experience the full 3-course menu.

Grannie Annie's Pub & Pantry

Situated on Roker seafront, Grannie Annie's pub & pantry serves a great selection of drinks and some delicous food.... just like Grannie makes it! They are dog friendly every day, but ask that dogs vacate the premises at 8pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Grosvenor Casino Restaurant

Located in the Grosvenor Casino at Sunniside in the city centre and opposite the cinema, this restaurant offers tasty food most of the night through. Membership to the casino is required, but is free and takes but moments to join, but once inside you can enjoy the restaurant and bar, including delicious cocktails, at your leisure.
